Our approach to web hosting is a little unusual.
We only offer web hosting services to our clients. We do not offer hosting as a separate service to the general public but can happily recommend WPEngine, WireHive or SiteGround if that is what you are looking for.
We are fussy and our hosting reflects that. In fact we’re a little bit OCD about our web hosting and we completely understand that not everyone seeks the same, pedantic standards that we do. That is why we don’t force our clients to use our hosting.
The enhanced security measures we have on our web hosting deliver greater protection against hacking attempts, because it is easier to prevent damage occurring in the first place than it is to spend ages trying and fix it when it is too late. But, just in case something does go wrong, all website code is maintained through version control, we take regular backups of the websites and we retain multiple copies of those files – I did say we were a bit OCD about it.
We run multiple, automated systems to monitor our websites (and the performance of the servers) from several different locations & we maintain a finely-tuned security that restricts access to back-end systems.
As a result, in 2018, our servers achieved 99.97% uptime, higher than Amazon’s AWS hosting at 99.95%, and equivalent to just 3 hours of downtime during the entire year (with most of our downtime caused by scheduled maintenance).
You can get much cheaper web hosting elsewhere, of course, but it is not the same. We are not cheap, but we are very competitively priced for the quality of service we deliver. The clients who choose to host with us understand that losing customers because their website is down is more expensive than paying a little bit more in the first place to keep it up.
To put it simply, we don’t push our hosting package – we simply make available a high-standard of performance, security & reliability that’s comparable to well-run, dedicated hosting at a fraction of the cost.
Narrative Industries’ website hosting is managed by our partner Wirehive. Our web servers reside in Tier 3 Data Centres located in the UK and access is strictly controlled to meet (and in some cases exceed) the relevant requirements of our GDPR compliance.
